Starting in 2010, ten major Dutch transport companies will record the annual CO2 emissions of their fleet in their Annual Reports. They will do so within the framework of the Carbon Footprint Project, which is part of the Sustainable Logistics Programme. With this commitment, the transporters want to better map CO2 emissions in order to then take measures to reduce those emissions.
The project is a co-operation between Connekt, which is responsible for the implementation of the Sustainable Logistics Programme, and ten members of Royal Dutch Transport (KNV). The transporters are characterised by their sustainable policies, in which pushing back CO2 emissions plays an important role. This will enable more specific and efficient measures.
The ten participating transporters are Den Hartogh Logistics, Jan de Rijk, Van den Bosch, H&S Group, HZ Transport, Bas Logistics, Vos Logistics, Gé Simons, Rutges and Albert Keijzer.
The long-term objective of the project is that more and more companies are stimulated to also include CO2 emissions into their Annual Reports.
The Footprint project is a good example of how the business community is ahead of the present climate agreements in
The Sustainable Logistics Programme supports 250 leading companies in the field of sustainable transport of goods. The target is to increase the profitability of the companies and simultaneously decrease the CO2 emissions by >20%. Different projects will be set up for this purpose. One of them is the Carbon Footprint Project.
